Building skills for Life

Darebin Drama classes are a professional, safe and fun environment for students to build their skills. 

With a high focus on ensemble and collaboration, each week the classes will involve creative thinking, decision making, communication and interpesonal skills. Drama games help foster a child's self-confidence and develop their creative voices. Through ensemble exercises, games and tasks - students of Darebin Drama learn to accept other's ideas; developing empathy, inclusion and respect.  The sessions across the term work on body and voice skills, building confidence in imaginative and creative work in a focused environment.

Developing the Professional Actor

Darebin Drama classes also provide budding performers the tools and skills they will need to succeed in real world acting situations. 

Led by expert industry professionals, bodily awareness skills are developed through warm-ups and technique exercises. Participants gain tools and skills of their body and voice for use in creative play and character building as well as everyday life. Aesthetic awareness is cultivated in movement, text and devising scenarios. Students learn stagecraft elements and relationship to audience through improvisation tasks and script work as well as devising and performing. 

One-on-one coaching for auditions is also available.

 Meet the Teacher

Selene Beretta Grande

Selene Beretta Grande is an international theatre director and teacher having previously worked in the UK, USA, and Switzerland. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London, where she completed a Masters in Theatre. Previously, she completed her conservatory training in New York City as an actress and performed in and directed classical and contemporary works in the United States. She trained with Anne Bogart and SITI company extensively in the Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints. Selene began her teaching career in NYC and has since taught and mentored actors professionally as well as youth theatre and children’s theatre programs across the world. She was the Head of Acting in Switzerland’s premier youth acting academy and taught and directed professional actors and students that now appear in the West End and on Broadway. She is passionate about fostering the talent of young actors and creating bold and innovative theatre that speaks to the human condition.
